The year 2016 marks the 120th anniversary of the Chunghwa Post. It’s an honor for me to host “PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition.” Let me express my gratitude to the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) and Federation of Inter-Asia Philately (FIAP) for their support and sponsorship in making this a reality. I firmly believe that with the assistance of the two Federations and participation of philatelists and guests from around the world, the Exhibition will once again stimulate creativity among philatelists and serve as a venue of culture exchange.

This is the second consecutive year Taiwan has hosted a large-scale international philatelic event. The first was the Taipei 2015-30th Asian International Stamp Exhibition. These events are a demonstration of Taiwan’s philatelic capability and its capacity to organize such mega events. Through this Exhibition, I am sure that participants will be able to interact and learn from each other. In addition to the world-class stamp exhibition, a series of diversified activities is planned. It is our hope to promote philately as an activity enjoyed by the public so everybody can appreciate the beauty of stamps, instead of just nobles.

I sincerely invite post administrations, philately federations, stamp dealers, philatelists and stamp lovers worldwide to join us. We welcome all of you to Taipei and wish you a wonderful time while in Taiwan.

Finally, let me wish PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition a great success.

Honorary President
PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition
Minister of Transportation and Communications

With the encouragement from and approval of the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), we at the Chunghwa Post and Taipei’s Philatelic Federation are privileged and honored to host the PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition for the first time in our history. This great philatelic event coincides the 120th anniversary of the Chunghwa Post, which began to provide services in Beijing and Tianjin of China in the year of 1886. As a milestone for us, we are making enormous effort to ensure its success as we welcome philatelists and stamp lovers from all over the world.

PHILATAIPEI 2016 will open at Taipei’s World Trade Center on October 21st. We are expecting a turnout of some 80 FIP members and many postal administrations, philatelic federations, stamp dealers, and philatelists. An estimated 2,400 frames of philatelic rarities will be on display, plus more than 130 booths attending this stamp exhibition. Taking this precious opportunity, we will try hard to showcase diversified philatelic cultures, while expanding international publicity and visibility of philately.

The theme of PHILATAIPEI 2016 focuses on philately heritage and innovation. With the display of various creative stamp collections, viewers will see for themselves the beauty of the world of stamps. It is also our hope to attract more young viewers to the event. With new blood joining, we will be able to pass down philately torch to the younger generation.

By the joint efforts of local Philatelic Federation and the Chunghwa Post, and with the guidance and assistance of the FIP, this stamp exhibition will definitely be a spectacular event. We are gathered in Taipei because of our common love for stamps, in the spirit of an old Chinese saying that goes: “there is no greater delight than having friends coming from afar.”  As the organizer, I sincerely welcome all of you. While you are in Taiwan, I am sure you will have ample opportunities to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the island and the warm hospitality of our people.
